About My Work

I’m currently pulling materials together to make a proper portfolio of my work, but for now, here’s an overview to give you a sense of what I’m about.

From the West of Ireland, I was a member of Galway Youth Theatre in my teens and went on to train as an actor at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin. I worked professionally as an actor for a while before moving to London to do an MA in Theatre Directing at Middlesex University, and working in London and Glasgow as a director and Actor. As part of my directing studies, I trained in GITIS Moscow, and ISI Denpasar in Bali. I also trained with MICHA in Michael Chekhov’s Acting Technique.

Acting highlights include: Pride & Prejudice (Gate Theatre, Dublin), Anna Karenina (Razed Curtain, Glasgow), The End of the World (Arcola Theatre, London), Low Level Panic (Galway Theatre Festival & National Tour), Jack Taylor: The Magdalen Martyrs (Magma Films)

I’m really proud of my adaptations of Persona (Cuirt International Festival of Literature) Onegin (Galway Theatre Festival) and The Snow Queen (Galway Actors Workshop). I’ve also directed many classic and contemporary plays from Dangerous Liaisons to Will Eno’s Middletown.

I’ve taught acting and playwriting since 2008 - running my own courses as well as at the University of Galway. Recently I trained as a Somatic Coach with the Somatic School and am currently working towards my ICF accreditation.

My theatre making practice has an eye for hybrid forms - I particularly love working with poets, and finding innovative ways to stage poetic text. I’m also really interested in hauntings, heresies and ancestral legacies - the driving forces behind my current work-in-progress Finding Galahad.
